Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinder

Applications: steel mills, power plants, civil infrastructure projects.

 

Telescopic cylinders are multi-stage cylinders. As such, they are ideal alternatives to single-stage cylinders when installation space is limited, but long stroke lengths are still required.

 

We manufacture 2-stage, 3-stage, and 4-stage telescopic cylinders with patented technology for extra precise strokes. In other words, our telescoping cylinders can increase stroke lengths by up to 4x compared to a single-stage hydraulic cylinder.

 

The pictured 3-stage telescopic hydraulic cylinder was manufactured for Shagang Group’s power plant with the following specifications:

Drilling & Mining

Finally, we are regular suppliers of choke cylinders to clients in the mining industry. Our choke cylinders are used in hammer drills as the main source of hydraulic power to break through the Earth’s surface.

3-Step Hydraulic Cylinder Testing Process

Our custom cylinders undergo a standard 3-part testing procedure before being shipped to our clients.

1. Function Test

The purpose of the function test is to assess for abnormal or substandard cylinder performance. Custom hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders are placed on a test jig that measures the cylinders’ full strokes over several cycles. Our cylinders are only approved for the next test if the stroke performance is satisfactory over all cycles.

 

2. Proof Test

After the function test, our custom-made cylinders undergo a proof pressure test to check for leakage or deformation under pressure. Single-acting hydraulic cylinders are tested in their fully extended state. Meanwhile, double-acting hydraulic cylinders are tested in both extended and retracted states. We have the capacity to test up to 8700 PSI with our in-house testing equipment for expedited lead times.

 

3. Internal Bypass Test

Finally, all our double acting cylinders undergo an internal bypass test to check for leakage.

 

Our cylinders are only shipped to clients once they satisfy all 3 stages of our testing process.

Our client’s heavy ship lift system had an innovative design that required custom cylinder jack manufactured to exact-fit. Since it was a new design, it was mandatory that their new cylinder manufacturer had excellent design engineering capabilities, as well as superior manufacturing quality.

Our custom hydraulic cylinders must undergo our 3-part testing process before shipment. Since these marine cylinder jacks were manufactured for our client’s extreme conditions, they underwent an elevated internal pressure test at 350 bar (5,075 PSI) for 1 hour.

Custom Hydraulic Cylinder Jack

The resulting cylinder jack is the hydraulic power source for our client’s ship lift systems, which lift loads of over 30,000 metric tons.

 

Our client also adopted our plating suggestions. The custom cylinder jack was prepared with 2 layers of 50-micron chrome plating. This extra plating allowed for superior resistance to corrosion in marine and offshore conditions.
