Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinder
Applications: steel mills, power plants, civil infrastructure projects.
Telescopic cylinders are multi-stage cylinders. As such, they are ideal alternatives to single-stage cylinders when installation space is limited, but long stroke lengths are still required.
We manufacture 2-stage, 3-stage, and 4-stage telescopic cylinders with patented technology for extra precise strokes. In other words, our telescoping cylinders can increase stroke lengths by up to 4x compared to a single-stage hydraulic cylinder.
The pictured 3-stage telescopic hydraulic cylinder was manufactured for Shagang Group’s power plant with the following specifications:

In addition to being manufactured with forged steel, these telescopic cylinders have additional protective coating. The protective coating provides extra resistance and service life in the extreme temperatures, demanding workloads, and harsh conditions of a power plant.
Large Bore Boom Cylinder

Our custom boom cylinder is used by South Korea’s top electricity supplier for their power plant. This large bore boom cylinder provides the hydraulic power for the client’s Continuous Ship Unloader (CSU).

Hot Rolling
LPR Global supplies Heavy Duty Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) Cylinders (also known as Roll Force Cylinders) for hot rolling mills. For example, the pictured cylinders are used by Hyundai Heavy Industries to help push hot rolling mill rolls to flatten steel slabs in gradual increments into the desired thickness.

The cylinders below were reverse-engineered and manufactured for Korea East-WestPower Company. The client originally worked with a Germany supplier, but required emergency repair services. LPR Global reverse engineered the cylinder for repair and manufactured a duplicate new cylinder.

3-Step Hydraulic Cylinder Testing Process
Our custom cylinders undergo a standard 3-part testing procedure before being shipped to our clients.
1. Function Test
The purpose of the function test is to assess for abnormal or substandard cylinder performance. Custom hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders are placed on a test jig that measures the cylinders’ full strokes over several cycles. Our cylinders are only approved for the next test if the stroke performance is satisfactory over all cycles.
2. Proof Test
After the function test, our custom-made cylinders undergo a proof pressure test to check for leakage or deformation under pressure. Single-acting hydraulic cylinders are tested in their fully extended state. Meanwhile, double-acting hydraulic cylinders are tested in both extended and retracted states. We have the capacity to test up to 8700 PSI with our in-house testing equipment for expedited lead times.
3. Internal Bypass Test
Finally, all our double acting cylinders undergo an internal bypass test to check for leakage.
Our cylinders are only shipped to clients once they satisfy all 3 stages of our testing process.

Background: Need for Expert, Reliable Supplier during COVID
When a U.S.-based leader in heavy ship lift systems designed a new lift system, they needed a partner with expertise in both marine hydraulics and heavy duty hydraulic cylinder manufacturing.

Our custom hydraulic cylinders must undergo our 3-part testing process before shipment. Since these marine cylinder jacks were manufactured for our client’s extreme conditions, they underwent an elevated internal pressure test at 350 bar (5,075 PSI) for 1 hour.
Custom Hydraulic Cylinder Jack
The resulting cylinder jack is the hydraulic power source for our client’s ship lift systems, which lift loads of over 30,000 metric tons.
Our client also adopted our plating suggestions. The custom cylinder jack was prepared with 2 layers of 50-micron chrome plating. This extra plating allowed for superior resistance to corrosion in marine and offshore conditions.
Conclusion
With design engineering input from both teams, the client now supplies their commercial ship lift with improved reliability, efficiency, and operating costs for their marine clients. Our client continues to provide their ship lift systems to shipyards, offshore platforms, and commercial ports.

From a single hydraulic press cylinder to several dozens of cylinders, we manufacture any order quantity for our OEM clients.
Our heavy-duty cylinders are used in hydraulic press machines of up to 10,000-ton capacities. Our typical cylinder fluids include VG46 mineral-based hydraulic oil (high performance oil), water glycol, and bio-based hydraulic oils, and we can accommodate to our clients’ specific requests.
Our typical hydraulic press cylinder falls within the following range:
Imperial Units
- Bore Size (Inner Diameter): 11 inches to 28 inches
- Stroke Length: 3 ft to 36 ft
- Operating Pressure: Up to 5,000 PSI
Metric Units
- Bore Size (Inner Diameter): 300 mm to 700 mm
- Stroke Length: 1 m to 11 m
- Operating Pressure: Up to 350 bar
Chrome and Nickel Plating for Corrosion and Heat Resistance
We offer chrome plating for corrosion resistance, as well as nickel and ceramic plating for heat and corrosion resistance.
Our custom hydraulic press clients typically request chrome plating, or nickel-chrome plating, to a thickness of 30 µm – 50 µm.
Our plating is included in our rigorous quality control process to ensure the highest quality cylinders for our clients’ demanding applications.
