Below are a few important certifications to look for:

ISO9001:

ISO9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). ISO9001 ensures that a metal fabricator’s fabrication processes are standardized and controlled, leading to consistent and reliable product quality.

ASME U:

An ASME U certification indicates that a fabricator is authorized to fabricate pressure vessels according to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). Because achieving ASME U certification requires a high level of engineering expertise and technical capability, and the certification process involves rigorous third-party inspections and audits, fabricators equipped with such certification have been independently verified to meet or exceed industry standards of quality for pressure vessels.

ASME S:

An ASME S certification indicates that a company is authorized to manufacture and assemble power boilers in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). Fabricators with an ASME S certification show that their boilers meet safety and reliability requirements.

ASME PP:

An ASME PP certification indicates that a company is authorized to fabricate and assemble pressure piping in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). ASME PP certified fabricators are verified by third party inspectors to have the capability to produce high-quality, reliable pressure piping systems, and have robust processes and high expertise.

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS):

Fabricators who are equipped with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) welding certificate have skilled welders and stringent welding procedures in place to ensure structural integrity and safety of welded components, particularly for demanding marine and offshore applications.
