How the Manhole Surveillance System and Manhole Cover Security Product Works

As seen in the above diagram, the collecting terminal is placed inside a manhole below the manhole cover and sub repeaters and transmitters are installed on a nearby utility pole, street light pole, building or internal up-side of the distributing board. The collecting terminal contains a micro-strip antenna, communication module and processor. The terminal also contains a built-in battery if there is no external power supply. The terminal contains three sensor parts: Open/Shut sensor, Temperature sensor and Water-level sensor. The radio frequency (RF) signal is transmitted to a repeater, received data is re-transmitted to a relay. Data is then transmitted to the system relay which allows it to receive data from the collecting terminal (or repeater). Transmission can be done over large distances based on GSM or CDMA signals.

Server and software program at the remote location: The central location receives data from several collecting terminals. Following functions are provided by the server & program:
